Goonhilly Education Outreach Event
Following the recent launch of the Goonhilly Earth Station brand, Hill Langdell and our web partners Fish Media were invited to attend an educational outreach event at the Goonhilly site, just outside Helston in Cornwall.
The event was designed to gauge opinion and ideas directly from local educational representatives on how Goonhilly Earth Station should best be developed as a resource and opportunity for young people in the south-west. The event was hosted by Des Prouse, Local advisor to Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd and after a brief presentation; Ian Jones (CEO & Director) and Piran Trezise (Operations Director) took part in an in-depth question and answer session.
The session was a huge success, with representatives from local primary schools, secondary schools and colleges suggesting ideas and posing questions which will eventually steer the development of the Goonhilly site.
Geoff Hill, Creative Director at Hill Langdell, and Colin Mitchell, Director at Fish Media attended as observers in preparation for the development of the Goonhilly Earth Station website, which will be aimed at a variety of audiences including the education sector.
The evening concluded with a lunar eclipse against the giant dishes. At least it would have if the cloud cover hadn't been present, however the impact of the subtlety lit dishes or the Educational Outreach event was not lost. Subsequent events are now to be held and will provide an important part in the Goonhilly Earth Station journey.
